Managing conditions
You can manage the conditions that can be used in Condition Manager.
- Conditions
A condition is a name and value pair. A condition expression can be applied as an attribute to data then used when needed, to filter the data for publishing or viewing. - Adding a condition name
You add condition names for authors to apply to data that is unique to a product, situation, or circumstance. The condition can be used to filter data for publishing or viewing by the end user. - Adding a condition value
After creating a condition name, you can associate values with it. Users are then able to choose the condition and value when assigning the condition to data in their documents. - Organizing conditions
You can organize condition names and values into categories. This enables technical writers to easily find the condition names and values that they frequently use. Each category contains a set of condition names and values that are often used together. The categories may also be further organized in a tree structure. - Synchronizing conditions
You can synchronize the set of conditions stored in Condition Manager with a set of conditions that are stored in another application. You can use this, for example, if another department maintains conditions in a separate application. - Viewing where conditions are used
Before you modify a condition name or value, you should check the categories and XML objects in which the condition is used. Changing a condition (for example, adding a value or deleting values) can affect objects in which the condition is used.
