Publication output status

When you publish there are several different status that can be reported, each telling you something about the publish process or the outcome.

Following table is an overview of the publication statuses.

StatusMeaning
To Be PublishedThe publication output was defined but rendering was not initiated yet.
PendingThe publishing process was initiated.

Released

The publication output was released. No changes to the content of the publication can be made anymore.

Release CandidateThe content that was rendered was processed without any issues.

This means that all objects were present and released, that no invalid links, hyperlinks, conref links etc. were found, and that the output format can be released.

DraftThe content that was rendered was not processed without issues. This can mean, for example:
  • items included that are not yet released
  • items that were included are not present at all
  • the images are not all present in the requested resolution

The publish report lists all issues that were found when during the publishing process.

Failed

The publishing process was terminated due to a fatal error while rendering.

The publishing process was stopped by the user before it was completed.

Out-of-date

Indicates that one or several of the following have changed after the last time publishing was executed:
  • Resources have been added to or removed from the publication.
  • The publication's root map have been added, replaced or removed.
  • A least one of the following properties of the publication object's version have been changed: Working language, working resolution, context or baseline.
  • Any property of the specific output other than "Status" have been changed.

Since the current content of the output is not up-to-date the output should be published again.
