For your users to be able to publish from Content Manager to Content Delivery, you must first set up a Content Manager output format, and then create an instance of the format in Publication Manager.
Before you begin
Consider these requirements and suggestions:
- In Content Manager, you must have Administrator access to the Content Manager web client.
- In Content Delivery, you must create a user that belongs to a group that has the Manage Pubs permission.
- In Content Delivery, you should have added any customized skin to Content Delivery before you begin this procedure. If you do not, the default skin is base.
- You do not need to have a publication nor a language version set up in Content Delivery; the publish process creates them for you.
Procedure
- Log on to the Content Manager web client as an user with administration rights, for example, Administrator.
- On the Settings tab, click Output Formats.
- Click New.
- In the Output Format Properties dialog box, set the following (all the other settings are left as they are):
- For Output Format, type Content Delivery.
This is the name that users will see in Content Manager Publication Manager when they publish.
- For Resolutions, type a comma-space delimited list of the resolutions of graphics that you want to appear in Content Delivery publications.
For example Low, High.
- Under EDT of the output, select ZIP.
- Uncheck Single file.
- For Style processor, select Content Delivery.
- In the SDL Knowledge Center Content Delivery section, under URL of the server, type the URL and port number for the Content Delivery server.
The URL must include http:// or https:// and the port number for Content Delivery if it doesn't use the default port. Omit a final forward slash at the end of the URL.
For example, http://contentdelivery.lc.example.com/ContentDelivery (where lc refers to an example related to Content Delivery, and contentdelivery specifies it further as a delivery server)
- Same section, under User name, type the user in Content Delivery through whom the publication is handled. This user must belong to a group that has the Manage Publication permission in Content Delivery.
Note: Provide a user name only if the URL leads to a Content Delivery instance that doesn't use Single Sign On (SSO). If it uses SSO, then leave this field empty.
- Same section, under Password, type the password corresponding to the user name you specified in the previous step.
- In the Advanced section, make sure all the boxes are checked.
- Click OK.
- On the Content Manager server computer, restart IIS.
- Log in to Content Manager Publication Manager as a user with administrative permissions, for example, Administrator.
- On the Output tab, click Add.
- In the Select Output Format dialog box, click SDL Knowledge Center, then click Next.
- In the Add Publication Output dialog box, do the following:
- For Language Combination, type a plus sign (+) delimited list of the language codes that you want to publish with this output format instance.
For example, en-US+fr-FR
- For Modules and Masters, Images, and Resources, type a plus sign (+) delimited list of the language codes you want to publish.
- Click OK.
The output format instance is created with a status of To be published.
- Validate the publishing process.
