Configuring Comment Polling Frequency

An administrator can specify in Global Config settings how often SDL LiveContent Reach polls the server for new comments and replies when a user is viewing a topic.

About this task

By default, SDL LiveContent Reach polls the server for new comments and replies for the active topic every 30 seconds. After 5 minutes, if no new comments are added to the active topic, polling is slowed by a multiple of 3, or 90 seconds.

Procedure

  1. If you are in a SDL LiveContent Reach tool, click Home in the breadcrumb trail.
The Review and Collaboration landing page appears.
  2. In the Administration Tools pane, click Manage Application.
    The Manage Application page appears.
  3. Click Global Config.
  4. Add a new item: commenting.polling.freq.secs and set the value to the polling period you want instead of the default.
    1. Under Customized Config, click Add Item.
    2. Specify the configuration item name and value:
      Name
      commenting.polling.freq.secs
      Value
      time

Where time is the polling frequency in seconds.

For example, if you specify a value of 10, the polling interval becomes 10 seconds. After 5 minutes, if no comments are added to the active topic, polling slows to 3x10, or 30 seconds.
