Importing legacy content
Use the SDL LiveContent Architect batch import to upload files to the repository in batch mode.
Before you begin
- You must be a member of the system administration user group.
- Make certain you have read and adhered to the prerequisites for importing legacy content.
Procedure
- Place the files you want to import on the server .
The default location is \InfoShare\Data\BatchImport\ImportIllustrations\ or \InfoShare\Data\BatchImport\ImportModules\. If separate sub-folders were created, place the files in the appropriate sub-folder.
- In the SDL LiveContent Architect web interface, click the Tools tab.
- Click the appropriate Import <content type> tab on the left side.
Check that the files you placed in the folder are listed.Note: Items with a red X are items that previously failed to import . Click Remove Log to remove the log and ensure that thefailed files have been removed from the server folder so that SDL LiveContent Architect does not attempt to import them again.
- Click the Start Import button in the upper right corner.
- In the Import Service dialog box, enter author and reviewer information.
- In the Set folder id area, click Assist and browse to the folder in the repository where you want to import the files.
You can set the directory location in the import config file using the folder's numeric ID. If this was done, the value is not visible.
- After starting import, click Auto refresh to view the progress of the import.
Files that are imported have green check marks. If everything was imported without errors, all the files are removed.
- Check for import errors.
Errors are marked with a red X. Click Show Details to see more information about the error.
Table 1. Frequently encountered errors Error Explanation, the error occurs when No handler defined for file importing files for which no file handler is defined in the import config file. You have either insufficient rights to create new objects in this status or no initial status is defined the status in which you try to upload the objects is configured in the repository or is not a valid initial status for your profile.
