Terminology cache (tbx)

The terminology cache

The terminology checking engine is powered by terminology lists. Such lists are exported from different terminology programs such as SDL Multiterm in the TBX (TermBase eXchange) format.

Keep in mind that terminology is not managed directly within the SDL Enrich system. Instead, SDL Enrich provides users with terminology suggestions based on your TBXs. Your System Administrator can keep these lists up to date in SDL Enrich by updating the TBX files periodically.

Your Documentation Manager in consultation with your Terminology Manager can decide on different aspects of your terminology strategy including:

  • the types of terminology lists are available (for example- marketing, or Technical Documentation).
  • the source of terminology lists (exported from MultiTerm, created by hand, etc).
  • the frequency and update rate for the TBX files (who does what and when).
  • the required configuration details (file name, field name, preferred and forbidden terms).

The Documentation Manager can implement all aspects of your terminology strategy except importing TBX files. For these updates, the Documentation Manager can act as a liaison between the Terminology Manager (who provides the TBX files) and the System Administrator (who imports the TBX files).
