Creating publications and language versions

In SDL LiveContent Reach, a publication is a logical grouping of information (topics and multimedia, including images and Shockwave Flash animations) related to a specific subject. A publication contains data in one or more languages which are stored in separate language versions where the content is uploaded, then prepared and made live for your users to view.

About this task

You have one language version for each language you will publish for the publication (for example, en-US or he). An example of a publication might be a repair manual for an airplane.

This procedure shows the manual steps for creating publications and language versions in SDL LiveContent Reach.

Procedure

  1. If you are in a SDL LiveContent Reach tool, click Home in the breadcrumb trail.
The Review and Collaboration landing page appears.
  2. In the Administration Tools pane, click Manage Publications.
    The Manage Publications page appears.
  3. In the left pane, click Add Publication.
  4. In the Add Publication dialog, do the following:
    1. Enter the publication name.
    2. Select the XML standard for the publication.
You cannot upload content from different XML standards into the same publication.
    3. Enter the default language version in the form of a valid language code.
For example, en-US for United States English or he for Hebrew.
    4. Click Save.
  5. If your publication will be published in additional languages beyond the default language, do the following:
    1. In the left pane, click Add Language Version.
    2. In the Add Language Version dialog, select the publication to which you want to add this language version.
    3. Enter the language version in the form of a valid language code.
    4. Click Save.
