Defining initial statuses

When a new object is created in the repository, the object needs to receive a status in order to become part of the workflow process. Here we describe how the possible initial statuses are defined.

About this task

It is possible to define a different initial status per role. Regular users in general submit content in a draft status. For system administrators, you may want an initial status that by-passes part of the workflow. For instance, when uploading legacy content, it can occur that you want to upload the content in the initial status of released or approved .

For a specific role, the initial status can be defined differently for each object type since images, topics, maps or library (topics) can each have a different creation and/or review process.

Procedure

  1. In the SDL LiveContent Architect web client, click the Settings tab on the top of the screen.
  2. Select the Initial Statuses tab in the left part of the screen.
  3. Click the Properties button for the role you want to modify the initial statuses.
A dialog window appears in which you can modify the statuses per object type.
  4. Select an object type in the drop down list on top.
  5. Click the initial status you want to define for the object type. Hold the CTRL-key to select more than one status.
  6. Click OK.
