Changing user properties
You can modify user permissions, group assignments, language and other properties from the SDL LiveContent Architect web client application.
Procedure
- Login to the Web Client as an administrator user.
- Click on the Settings tab.
- Click Users in the left pane.
- Select the user from the list in the right pane.
- Click Properties in the right pane.
The User Properties window displays.
- Change the properties as needed. Note:
- Name: Required. The user login name. When using Internal authentication, this is the name you enter into the username field of the SDL LiveContent Architect login screen.
Important: The domain/username combination is case senstive, it must match the case of the domain/username as it was entered in the Windows Authentication System.
- Password: Enter the password for the user when using SDL LiveContent Architect or internal type authentication (Type: Internal). If using central authentication (Type: External) do not enter data in this field.
- Email: Enter the email address of the user.
- Language: Required. Used as the default language value (for example, when creating a new object).
- Roles: Click the ellipsis button to display the list of user roles. Double click to add the user role(s).
This determines if the user is displayed as a potential recipient in the workflow.
- User group: Required. Click the ellipsis button to display the list of user groups. Select the group(s) to which the user is assigned.
This determines the permissions and access the user has to folders and data in the repository.
- Type: Required. Click in the field to display the select list.
Select Internal if the user name and password is to be verified by SDL LiveContent Architect.Select External if the user name and password is to be verified by an External system.
- External Id: Required if using central authentication. Enter the external authentication system identification.
For example, Windows authentication, enter domain\username.
Attention:Be aware that the user group to which you assign your users defines their permissions when working in the application. Use the same discretion assigning permissions that your IT team uses for access to your systems. Users with administrator permissions must fully understand the results of their actions when working in that role.
- Name: Required. The user login name. When using Internal authentication, this is the name you enter into the username field of the SDL LiveContent Architect login screen.
- Optionally:
- To deactivate a user, uncheck the Active box. This allows the user value to be maintained in the repository but eliminates the name from user lists. For instance, when a user leaves the company but is associated with metadata for an object, such as Last modified by, the username (data) in the field is maintained and valid however, the user no longer appears in any lists.
- Check the Disabled box to prevent the user from logging into SDL LiveContent Architect. For instance, if the user leaves the company.
