Configuring Application Server Role

The Application Server Role is required to be installed.

Before you begin

This is an optional component during a Windows installation, and is not installed by default during operating system setup.

Procedure

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features then on the left side of the window, select Turn windows features on or off.
  2. In the Server Manager window, right-click Roles then click Add Roles.

    If prompted with Before You Begin, click Next.

    An Add Roles Wizard window is displayed.

  3. Select Server Roles in the left pane.
    The Select Server Roles window is displayed.

    If the feature(s) are greyed and already installed (the Next button is not available) skip the remaining steps and instead, click Cancel.

  4. Select the Application Server role.
  5. Select Role Services under Application Server in the left pane.
  6. Open the Distributed Transactions tree.
  7. Select the Incoming Remote Transactions and Outgoing Remote Transactions.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Install.
