Creating new users

To allow users to login to SDL LiveContent Architect and access the repository, you must create the SDL LiveContent Architect user.

About this task

Create the user whether using Internal or External authentication.

Internally authenticated users: with this type of user, the login username/password are verified by SDL LiveContent Architect.

Externally authenticated users: with this type of user, the login username/password are verified by an External system. This type of user can be used for single sign on (SSO).

Procedure

  1. Login to the Web Client as an administrator user.
  2. Click the Settings tab at the top of the screen
  3. Click Users in the left pane.

The users are displayed in the right pane.

  4. Click New in the right pane.
  5. Enter data as described below:
    1. Name: Required. The user login name. When using Internal authentication, this is the name you enter into the username field of the SDL LiveContent Architect login screen.
    2. Password: Enter the password for the user when using SDL LiveContent Architect or internal type authentication (Type: Internal). If using central authentication (Type: External) do not enter data in this field.
    3. Email: Enter the email address of the user.
    4. Language: Required. Used as the default language value (for example, when creating a new object).
    5. Roles: Click the ellipsis button to display the list of user roles. Double click to add the user role(s).
This determines if the user is displayed as a potential recipient in the workflow.
    6. User group: Required. Click the ellipsis button to display the list of user groups. Select the group(s) to which the user is assigned.
This determines the permissions and access the user has to folders and data in the repository.
    7. Type: Required. Click in the field to display the select list.
Select Internal if the user name and password is to be verified by SDL LiveContent Architect.
Select External if the user name and password is to be verified by an External system.
    8. External Id: Required if using central authentication. Enter the external authentication system identification.
For example, Windows authentication, enter domain\username.
  6. Click Ok to add the user.
