Defining a Package Profile

A package profile lists the items that are included in a SDL LiveContent Reach package that is delivered to, and installed on, a user's computer. You can include any combination of publications, language versions, skins, global config settings, search categories, or forms/form instances in a package.

Procedure

  1. Log in as a user who belongs to a group with the Manage app permission.
  2. If you are in a SDL LiveContent Reach tool, click Home in the breadcrumb trail.
The Review and Collaboration landing page appears.
  3. In the Administration Tools pane, click Manage Application.
    The Manage Application page appears.
  4. In the left pane, click Packaging.
  5. Click Add Profile.
  6. Enter a name for the profile.
This name is used for the resulting package file.
  7. In order to include, exclude or delete publications, do one of the following. If you are creating a package for use in a content distribution model, all publications and language versions must be excluded from your package.
    1. To install or update the publication or language version on the user's computer, click in the Include column, next to the publication or language version.
    2. To make sure a publication or language version is not included in the package, click in the Exclude column, next to the publication or language version.
If the publication or language version exists on the user's computer, it is not removed by clicking this option.
    3. To remove a publication or language version from a user's computer, click in the Delete column, next to the publication or language version.
  8. Click Global Config and check the box for any of the global config settings that you want to include with your package. Add any additional configuration items that you want for your package. For each checked configuration item, ensure that the configuration value is correctly set for your package or content delivery servers.
  9. Click Skins and do one of the following:
    1. To install or update the skin on the user's computer, click in the Include column, next to the skin.
You must check all the skins that you want to include; child skins are not automatically checked if you check the parent skin. Insure that you have included the skin that is selected as the app.skin on the Global Config tab.
Only include the base skin with your package if you are specifically distributing SDL patch updates.
    2. To make sure a skin is not included in the package, click in the Exclude column, next to the skin name.
If the skin exists on the user's computer, it is not removed by clicking this option.
    3. To remove a skin from a user's computer, click in the Delete column, next to the skin name.
  10. Click Search and check the categories you want to install on the user's computer.
  11. Click Forms and check the type of forms and/or existing form instances that you want to install on the user's computer.
You can only include the form instances for floating form types. These forms are distributed with the package so users on that system can see the floating forms as well.
  12. Click Save.
