Entering non-Western Characters

You can use your Latin (English/QWERTY) keyboard to enter ideographic characters in languages such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean in SDL LiveContent Create by switching to Input Method Editor (IME) mode.

Before you begin

This example uses Japanese for the sake of clarity. You need to

  • to have installed a Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) as one of your keyboard languages in your operating system.
  • to have switched the input mode to Japanese IME using hirigana mode.
  • be familiar with inputting with a Japanese IME.

About this task

This feature is supported for any ideographic language that can be inputted by means of an IME.

Entering characters using your IME will not work until you switch to IME mode from the standard character input mode for your keyboard. Therefore, to start entering characters using your IME, you need to know how to toggle the IME mode on and off, as described in this topic.

Procedure

  1. To enable IME mode,
    • click on the IME button from the Insert Tab, or
    • press Ctrl+E
You can start editing in IME mode with a text bubble.
