Searching by category

In addition to free-form search queries, LiveContent S1000D indexes your publication to let you search by keywords. The Categorical Search command lets you search for keywords within a category.

Procedure

  1. On the right-hand side of the top bar panel, click the magnifying glass icon to open the search panel.
  2. In the search panel, select the Categorical Search tab.
  3. Optionally, click the Starts With, Contains or Ends With radio button. By default, Contains is selected when the panel first appears.
  4. Click the right-pointing chevrons (arrows) next to a category and enter a keyword in the resulting type-in field.
As you enter characters, a list of matching keywords appears. Click a keyword to add it to the search expression. In this depiction the stem Topic Title was added to a previous search expression, and s is being entered in the Topic Titles field.

Each keyword you add creates a pill box to the left of the search button.
  5. Optionally, to search in a specific branch of the table of contents only, click the Filter on TOC selection check box.
  6. To execute the search, click the magnifying glass icon in the Categorical Search panel.

Results

Search results are listed on the Search Results tab below the search controls in the search panel, and include the number of hits that match the search parameters that you specified. When you display the TOC in the search panel, the number of search matches display for each section (if this feature is enabled). You can save the search results by clicking Save this Search. You can also click Load a Saved Search to see a list of saved searches, which you can then load and execute. You can display the publication's TOC using the Table of Contents button in the search panel and then redisplay the search results using the Search Results button.
