Working with attachments to a publication

The Attachments window allows you to add, edit, download, and delete attachments of any file type to a data module (DM) in your technical manual. Each file you attach links directly to the DM.

The left panel of the Attachments window displays a list of all DMs in the publication that have files attached to them.

The right panel of the window contains the following elements:
ElementDescription
TargetThis read-only field displays the name and path of the selected DM. When the window first appears, this is the DM selected before the Attachments button was clicked, if any. If you select another DM in the left panel of the Attachments window, the name and path of that DM is displayed.
Attach FileThis field and its associated Browse button allow you to select a file to attach to the active DM. To the right of the Browse button, the window displays the name of the file to be attached, or if no file has been selected, the message, No file selected.
CommentsOptionally, you can enter a comment to be associated with the attachment in this text field.
PublicIf you are an administrator user, to let all users view the attachment, click Public. Non-administrator users can add only public attachments. A non-public attachment can be viewed or downloaded only by the administrator user who created it.
AttachAfter you have selected a file, click this button to attach it to the active DM.
Below the controls, the right panel displays a list of the attachments to the selected DM to which you have permissions.
