Step 2: Create a project template

Project templates (*.sdltpl) are created in SDL Trados Studio and they specify how a translation is handled. There can be only 1 Language Pair per project template.

About this task

The project template defined in SDL Trados Studio needs to define: SDL Machine Translation Edge as the MT provider for the chosen Language Pair, an SDL Trados GroupShare Translation Memory, and optionally an SDL Trados GroupShare Terminology.

Procedure

  1. Log in to SDL Trados Studio.
  2. Go to the Home view, and in the Tasks group, select Create Project Template.
  3. Enter a name and a folder for your project template.
  4. Under Language Pairs, select the language pair that the project template will use. There can be only 1 Language Pair per project template.
  5. Under Translation Memory and Automated Translation, add the TM (the TM should be hosted in SDL Trados GroupShare), and then add SDL Machine Translation Edge as MT provider (the plugin must be installed in SDL Trados GroupShare).
  6. Select SDL Machine Translation Edge to configure it:
    1. Select OK to close the window.
    2. Select SDL Machine Translation Edge and select Settings.
    3. Select the Language Pair Mappings tab and ensure that the appropriate version of the language pair is selected.
    4. Under Pre-translate Files ensure that Apply automated translation is selected.

What to do next

Move on to step 3 to upload the project template in SDL Trados GroupShare.
