Reverting to a Backup TermBase

Reverting to a Local Backup TermBase

About this task

If your local TermBase becomes damaged or unusable, or if you need to recover deleted or lost information in a TermBase, you can revert to a backup TermBase. Backups of local TermBases are created each time you save your TermBase. They appear in the same directory where your TermBase is saved, carrying the same name as the original TermBase, followed by the extension bk# (i.e. TermBase.bk1, TermBase.bk2, etc.)

Server TermBases are stored in databases, and the database should be backed up regularly by your IT team.

Procedure

  1. Right-click on the backup you wish to use and choose Rename.
  2. Rename the file by replacing the extension .bk# with .TMB3 which is the file extension of a regular TermBase.
  3. To open the TermBase, go to Start Session and browse for the new TermBase.
