Changes introduced in SDL Passolo 2015
This section provides an overview of the new features, enhancements and other changes introduced in SDL Passolo 2015.
Application
- Enhancements:

- SDL Passolo 2015 features a fresh and modern ribbon-based look and feel, making the application easier to use and learn for all types of users.
- The Passolo application icon was modified to match the new interface. By the same token, windows, menus, icons and splash screens have been refreshed to match the new look and feel.
- The following languages and cultures are now supported by SDL Passolo: Burmese, Burmese (Myanmar), English (Hong Kong), Spanish (Latin America), French (Congo [DRC]), French (Ivory Coast), French (Camerun), French (Haiti), French (Morocco), French (Mali), French (Réunion), French (Senegal), Guarani, Guarani (Paraguay), Javanese, Mongolian (Traditional Mongolian, Mongolia), Oromo, Oromo (Ethiopia), Romanian (Moldova), Somali, Somali (Somalia), Southern Sotho, Southern Sotho (South Africa), Tsonga, Tsonga (South Africa), Central Atlas Tamazight (Tifinagh), Central Atlas Tamazight (Tifinagh, Morocoo).
- A new origin column is now available in the translation list to show where a translation is coming from. This new column has also been added to Passolo as a property in the object model. This means, for instance, that you can now also use the find and filter features to search/filter for origins.
- Custom text can be now edited in the Properties textboxes on wrapped lines. This makes sure that users can work with long comment texts more easily.
- The SAX Basic Editor has been replaced by WinWrap Basic Editor for creating macros in Passolo's built-in IDE.
- As a backwards compatibility feature, the Passolo Translator Edition can now be used to open older version of translation bundles in read-only mode.
- Users can now customize access key indicators.
- The resource tree now contains a Copy command to copy the title of a file or the ID of a resource to the clipboard.
- Extended debug logging for the Passolo application is now available under File - Options - System to help with troubleshooting any issues.
- Fixed issues:

- Fixed a bug that prevented some unicode characters (for instance in Indic languages) to be displayed correctly to the user.
- Fixed a bug relating to the display refresh of the Passolo news items.
- Fixed a bug that prevented users to create QuickIndexes properly.
- Fixed a bug relating to the inline patterns settings.
- Fixed a bug relating to referenced IDs. They now change their Read-Only, Hidden and Locked flags, not only their value.
- Removed flickering on grids, treeviews and output windows. This behaviour used to occur during resizing, tab changing or string selection changing.
Installer

- SDL Passolo 2015 features a completely revamped installer that offers the following benefits:
- It automatically installs all pre-requisites and detects older versions, upgrading them as necessary.
- It features the same automatic update functionality as other SDL products such as SDL Trados Studio. This allows users to check if a new version of SDL Passolo 2015 is available and download and update with a single click.
- It installs side-by-side with SDL Passolo 2011 so you can continue running SDL Passolo 2011 in the transition phase when moving from the 2011 to the 2015 version.

Add-Ins
Automated Translation Add-In
- Enhancements:

- Users can now use the new SDL Language Cloud machine translation offering to make their translation process more efficient.
- The Automated Translation add-in was also enhanced to support Google Translate Api V2 build 1.8.1, which in turn fixes several threading issues. Chinese language support for Google automated translation is limited to the variants of the Chinese language supported by Google.
- Passolo now also offers an integration with Microsoft Translator Hub as a machine translation provider. Users can set up trained specialized translation engines in Microsoft Translator Hub, configure a connection with Passolo and then query the trained engine for available automated translations. The untrained Microsoft Translator engine is also available for users to use. A link to a relevant MSDN article was added to the Microsoft Bing Translator Settings window.
- Inactive free machine translation services options have been removed from the Setup Window.

- SDL MultiTerm add-in: this is the new generic provider for MultiTerm 2011 or higher.
- SDL Trados Studio add-in: this is the new generic provider for Studio 2011 or higher.

- The new SDL MultiTerm add-in has been improved over and above what was available in the previous SDL MultiTerm 2007 and SDL Multi Term 2009 add-ins.
Among other enhancements, users can now do the following:
- Select the criteria used in checking the translation for forbidden terms defined in MultiTerm termbases.
- Select and check for forbidden terms.
- Select the term attributes to be displayed in the terminology recognition window.
- The new SDL MultiTerm add-in has been improved over and above what was available in the previous SDL MultiTerm 2007 and SDL Multi Term 2009 add-ins.
- Licensing:

- Licensing with FlexLM® and Dongles is no longer supported.
- Passolo 2015 now supports the new SafeNet® licensing provider. The legacy licensing mechanism using Nalpeiron is also still supported.
- Users can get in touch with their sales representative to discuss transitioning from Nalpeiron to Safenet where required.
.NET Parser
- Enhancements:

- Added support for localizing WPF applications that have static resources pointing towards resource files.
- Added an option to extract strings from forms with missing dependencies.
- Fixed issues:

- Fixed a bug that caused a crash while parsing certain forms.
- Fixed a bug that prevented certain BAML resources to be displayed correctly. Also display issues with the resource view were addressed.
- Fixed a bug that caused a crash while parsing Compact Framework 1.1 resource files. An error message saying these files are not supported is now shown instead.
- Fixed a bug that caused "Framework PocketPC 3.5" resources to generate satellite resources with newer runtime and framework, which would cause localisation not to work on computers with older versions of the .NET framework installed.
- Fixed a bug that prevented the parser to generate target files in some cases.
- Fixed a bug relating to file access that occurred when generating target files.
Android Parser

- The Options window for target files now allows users to select a preferred encoding when generating target files.
- Updated an existing parsing rule for MFC 8.0 ribbons. All relevant elements are now extracted.

- Fixed a bug regarding duplication of tags in multi-lingual XML files, when the generated target language "id" attribute value is not all lowercase.
Excel Parser

- Fixed a user interface bug in the Setup window that prevented users to delete languages, because the Remove button remained inactive.
