Setting options for processing HTML and CHM Files

You can set up how HTML and CHM files are processed in SDL Passolo.

About this task

HTML files are processed and added in Passolo as source files. This can also be done for HTML files embedded in a different format such as CHM (Compiled HTML Help).

A preview of the HTML file is available during translation.

Handling HTML meta and comment tags

You can choose how Passolo processes HTML comment or metadata elements. These settings will apply to all target files related to this source file.

Procedure

  1. Select the source string list in the project window.
  2. Select String List Settings from the ribbon.
  3. In the Properties - Source String List dialog, select Options.
    • Select Ignore Comments when parsing to delete comments in target files.
    • Select Extract Meta Data from HTML to add the metadata found in HTML files to target files.

Changing file encoding

Passolo can generate a target file using the default encoding (the source encoding) or an encoding of your choice. Follow these steps to change encoding for one or more selected files.

Procedure

  1. Select the translation list.
  2. Select String List Settings from the ribbon.
  3. In the Properties - Translation List window, select Advanced.
  4. Deselect Use Source Encoding, choose an encoding from the Target Encoding drop-down list and select OK.
