Running the installer

The SmartTarget installer for Content Delivery installs the Content Deployer Extension so that the Content Deployer can send content published to the Index Server.

Before you begin

Before running the installer, read Prerequisites for SmartTarget on Content Delivery.

About this task

Procedure

  1. Access the SmartTarget installation media.
  2. Access the Content Delivery\ directory.
  3. Run one of the following files to start the installer:
    • On Windows systems:
      Install SDL SmartTarget 2014 SP1.bat
    • On UNIX systems:
      Install SDL SmartTarget 2014 SP1.sh
  4. In the Welcome screen, click Next.
  5. Set the following options and click Next:
    • Install Directory—select the directory you want to install SmartTarget in.
    • Technology—select the Web site technology you use:
      • Java Server Pages (JSP)—copies SmartTarget JAR files
      • Active Server Pages (ASP.NET)—copies SmartTarget JAR files and DLLs
      • Copy files—copies SmartTarget files for manual installation
  6. Set the following options and click Next:
    • Webapp root path—select the directory Web site content is published to.
    • Deployer config location—select the directory where your cd_deployer_conf.xml file is located (by default TRIDION_HOME\config.)
    The installer starts the installation and displays a progress bar. During installation you are prompted to confirm whether you want the installer to configure cd_deployer_conf.xml automatically for you:
  7. Click Finish to exit the installer.

What to do next

After installing SmartTarget on Content Delivery:
  • Configure smarttarget_conf.xml, by default located in the %TRIDION_HOME%\config folder, to connect to Fredhopper.
  • If your Content Deployer and Presentation Server (Web site) are installed on the same machine, merge the content from the following files located in the %TRIDION_HOME%\config:
    • cd_ambient_conf.xml (installed by the installer)
    • cd_ambient_conf.xml.st_installer.bak (a copy of your existing config file created by the installer)
