The user manual describes how to create and manage targeted and personalized content for your Web sites using SmartTarget.
SmartTarget integrates the SDL Tridion and SDL Fredhopper products:
Targeting The Targeting option in the slide-out navigation pane provides access to the Targeting Dashboard, the SmartTarget user interface for managing Promotions and Experiments.
Experiments An Experiment defines variations of content (Content Variants) to display in a region of a Web page. The Content Variants are displayed randomly to Web site visitors within a given time frame. The objective of an Experiment is to see which Content Variant performed the best (resulted in the most conversions).
Promotions A Promotion defines the targeted content to display in a Page Region of a Web site.
Managing Promotions and Experiments in Experience Manager Use Experience Manager for validating and fine-tuning Promotions and Experiments are displayed as intended to Web site visitors. Experience Manager is a user interface to the Content Manager that runs in your browser, and that allows end users to preview, edit and create Web site content in the context of a staging or preview Web site.
Going Live with Promotions and Experiments When you have created and validated Web site content and targeting content in your staging environment (Experience Manager), you need to publish the content to your public-facing Web sites.
