Downloading translation memories

You will only be able to download translation memories (TMs) if your system has been set up to export TM data to ZIP files for downloading.

About this task

Translation memories can be downloaded from the Download Files screen and also from the Exported TMs screen. To display the Exported TMs screen, click the Download TMs button in your Inbox. When downloading translation memories from either the Download Files screen or the Exported TMs screen:
  • Make sure that you select the correct language pair. Each translation memory download file is language specific. The language pair appears as part of the file name.
  • Make sure that you select the correct file type for downloading: SDLTM or MDB or TMX. SDLTM files are used in SDL Trados Studio, TMX files may be used in SDLX and SDL Trados, MDB is a Microsoft Access file for use in SDLX.

Use the Search box to restrict the display to relevant TMs. For example, enter en-us .tmx to restrict the display to those TMs that have both en-us and .tmx as part of their name.

This procedure describes how to download translation memory data from either the Download Files screen or the Exported TMs screen.

Procedure

  1. Identify the translation memory file or files to be downloaded. Make sure that you choose the correct language pair and the correct translation memory type (SDLTM, MDB or TMX).
  2. Select the translation memory files and click the Download button. The selected files are added to a ZIP file. When the ZIP file is ready, an information message containing the ZIP file name is displayed.
If the process of archiving files is taking too long, you can exit this screen and download the file later from the My Downloads screen. To display the My Downloads screen, click My Downloads in the Home navigation tree. To exit this screen without stopping the zipping process, select an option from the navigation tree.
  3. In the message, click the ZIP file name.
The File Download dialog box is displayed.
  4. Click Save.
The Save As dialog box is displayed.
  5. Navigate to the location where you want to save the ZIP file and click Save.
If you are using Mozilla FireFox, select the Save to Disk option and click OK.
