Taking ownership of tasks assigned to Groups

You must own or take ownership of a task to work on it.

Sometimes tasks are assigned to a group of users rather than to an individual. In the Inbox View example below, both jobs were assigned to groups. You can tell they were assigned to a group because of the icons that appear in the Tasks Assigned column. To work on a task that is currently assigned to a group, you must take ownership of the task.

A gray icon identifies tasks currently assigned to the group but not to anyone in particular. The number indicates how many tasks are assigned to the group.

A red icon identifies tasks that have already been taken by other group members. In this example one task has been taken.

A blue icon identifies tasks that you have taken. In this example you currently own one task from this job.

To take ownership of all available tasks in a job, select the job in the Inbox View and click Take Ownership.

To take ownership of individual tasks in a job, display the tasks in the Inbox View (Tasks), select the tasks and click Take Ownership. Any task where Unassigned appears in the Users Assigned column is available for any group member to take.
