SDL Online Editor

Read about the new cloud-based editor for translation and review.

SDL Online Editor is an online tool which you can use to translate and review tasks from SDL TMS. SDL Online Editor is a scalable, cost-effective component that combines the core capabilities of a modern desktop translation tool with a friendly interface designed to boost productivity and to ensure a positive user experience.

To enable translation and review using SDL Online Editor, SDL TMS 12.0 must be configured to link to SDL Language Cloud using an API Key. Once configured, SDL TMS will publish files for translation and review to SDL Language Cloud and the translator or reviewer assigned to the task can click on the link to open the file in SDL Online Editor rather than the traditional SDL TMS translation interface.

In this version of SDL TMS, there are some restrictions when using SDL Online Editor, as follows:
  • SDL Online Editor does not support Reference files
  • When a task is assigned to a group, the user must take ownership of the task before opening it in SDL Online Editor
  • SDL Online Editor is supported only in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge; Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported

For more information on using SDL Online Editor, read later in the Translating and Reviewing section or here.
