By locking segments or parts of segments, you can protect them from being modified. You can unlock protected segments or parts of segments if you need to modify them.
Procedure
- Open the appropriate file in SDL Online Editor.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want to lock or to unlock a segment, click that segment.
- If you want to lock or to unlock a part of a segment, select it.
Note: You can only lock parts of segments that do not contain formatting tags or revisions made with track changes. If you lock a part of a segment, other users cannot remove the lock.
- On the Home tab, in the Segments group, do one of the following:
- To lock a segment, click .
- To unlock a locked segment, click .
- To lock a part of a segment, click .
- To unlock a locked part of a segment, click .
Locked segments appear dimmed and have a lock symbol next to their status, on the right side of the screen. Similarly, locked parts of segments are delimited by two lock symbols – one at the beginning and one at the end of the selection.
