upLIFT support for server-based TMs
SDL Trados Studio and SDL Trados GroupShare now both support the revolutionary upLIFT technology which enables you to retrieve translation suggestions from translation memories (TMs) not only at segment level, but also at fragment level. upLIFT-enabled retrieval is now supported by both server-based and file-based TMs when translating your work from within SDL Trados Studio, which increases translation productivity and speed.
Save time and effort with server-based upLIFT
upLIFT technology now also offers you translation suggestions from server-based TMs during translation, which means that the fragment and segment -level matches you use are the most recent and most relevant ones. By enabling upLIFT technology for your translation memories, Fragment Recall will automatically offer fragment, or sub-segment matches (for example, clauses and individual words) from your TM in both 'fuzzy' and 'no match' scenarios.
Increase translation quality with multiple-user leverage
Given that server-based TMs are updated on a continuous basis, when translation suggestions are retrieved from such sources you are actually using translations which have reached high consensus among translators. When multiple users work in a server-based environment, rather than a file-based one, translation quality is ensured faster and more reliably.
Maximize your resources
- Fragment Recall
- Fragment Recall takes TMs, identifies correspondences between parts of source and target sentences, and then suggests those fragments during translation, through AutoSuggest. SDL Trados Studio identifies matching fragments from a TM, at the entire TU level or at TU inner level. Punctuation differences are automatically corrected at this level.
- Fuzzy Match Repair
- Fuzzy matches refer to previously translated stretches of text which are not 100% identical with the source text you are currently translating. upLIFT improves TM fuzzy matches by looking for replacements for mismatched source content in other resources like termbases, fragment recall matches or machine translation. Fuzzy Match Repair can mean changing, deleting, inserting or moving a word or phrase in the fuzzy match. Punctuation changes can also occur.
- Fragment Alignment
- Fragment Recall and Fuzzy Match Repair are enabled by the TM fragment alignment technology, which is an alignment between parts of the TU source and target segment. Fragment alignment is available for TMs with at least 5,000 TUs or more. SDL Trados GroupShare builds a translation model and aligns the translation units (TUs). Any new TU you add after enabling fragment alignment is immediately available for fragment recall.
