Using MT providers to pre-translate project files

You can use machine translation (MT) providers to pre-translate projects files during project creation. For now, SDL Language Cloud Machine Translation or SDL ETS Translation can be used.

Before you begin

To use an MT provider in your project, you first need to set up the MT providers in Trados GroupShare Console.

You'll also need to create your project using a project template that has the respective provider set up.

Procedure

  1. Follow the instructions from the Setting up execution server threads topic to set up a translation provider in Trados GroupShare Console.
  2. In SDL Trados Studio, create a project that has SDL Language Cloud Machine Translation or SDL ETS Translation providers set up.
  3. Also in SDL Trados Studio, create a project template based on the project in step 2.
  4. In Trados GroupShare, add the project template as a resource.
  5. Use the project template during project creation.
When the project is ready and available in the projects list, you will see that the files you added to the project are pre-translated using the translation provider you set up.

What to do next

To see if an MT provider is used for a certain project, open the project from the projects list and select Project Settings. Go to the Translation Memories page and see if the MT provider is available in the list.
