About regulator review bundles

If you work in a regulated industry and have purchased a license containing this feature, you can send a bundle of documents to an external regulator for review. A bundle is a zipped file that contains a specific collection of documents needed by the regulator. The documents can then be reviewed outside of SDL Trados Studio in Microsoft Word. The reviewed target document from the bundle can then be imported back into Studio and the *.sdlxliff updated with edits, tracked changes, reviewed statuses and comments.

Supported file types

You can only create bundles from projects that contain at least one *.docx file. You cannot create bundles from other file types in Studio.

About creating bundles

A separate bundle is created for each target language. The name of the bundle is automatically generated and follows the following name convention:

[Project name]_[Target language code].zip

Regulator Review workflow

The following workflow is an example of how to work with a regulator reviewer:

  1. Translate the document in Studio.
  2. Use the Create Regulator Review Bundle batch task to create a bundle of documents to send to the regulator.
  3. The regulator can make changes to the target document (FileName.docx.target.docx) in Microsoft Word. They can add comments, tracked changes or make corrections themselves.
  4. Use the Update from External Review batch task to import the changes and update the *.sdlxliff file in Studio.
  5. Open the document for translation in Studio and make the corrections.
