About WoldServer translation memories

SDL WorldServer TMs are server-based translation memories to which you connect manually from SDL Trados Studio or TMs to which you connect automatically when opening a WorldServer package.3

Manually Adding a WorldServer TM

You connect to an individual (standalone) TM or a group of TMs available on a WorldServer system and do the following:

  • apply TM during pre-translation.
  • perform lookups and concordance searches during translation.

TMs from WorldServer Packages

WorldServer packages automatically connect to:

  • the file-based TMs assigned to the WorldServer package*. These are the offline versions of the TMs, as they were available when the project was created.
  • the server-based TM assigned to the WorldServer package**. This is the live version of the TM, with the most up-to-date translation data. To read and update this TM, you need WorldServer credentials to the server where the project is located.

Editing Connection Settings to a WorldServer TM

If you want to edit connection details for a WorldServer TM that is already listed on the Translation Memory and Automated Translation page, you must first remove the translation memory from the list and then add it again with the new details.

* For WorldServer packages created in WorldServer 10.4 and later. Earlier packages merge all the assigned TMs into a single file-based TM, called WorldServer.sdltm .

** For WorldServer packages created in WorldServer 10.3 and later. Earlier packages only offer access to file-based TMs.
