Add/Edit Rule Exception
Use the Add Rule Exception dialog box to create an exception to a segmentation rule. Use the Edit Rule Exception dialog box to edit an exception to a segmentation rule.
To display the Add Rule Exception dialog box, click Add in the Add or the Edit Segmentation Rule dialog box.

| Description | Add a description of the exception rule. Advanced View - Click this to display the rule as regular expressions in the Advanced view. If you prefer, you can create the rule in the advanced view by entering regular expressions in the Before break and After break boxes. |
| Before break Regular expression | The value displayed here is the value selected in the Add/Edit Segmentation Rule dialog box. Enter the character or characters that form the exception. You can enter plain text or a regular expression. If you enter a regular expression you must select the Regular expressionRegular expression check box. If you do not select this box, SDL Trados assumes that the value you have entered is plain text. |
| Break characters | This displays the break character that is selected in the Add/Edit Segmentation Rule dialog box. |
| After break Regular expression | Select the type of character that appears immediately after the break character when this exception occurs. Alternatively, you can type the value or values in this box. You can enter plain text or a regular expression. If you enter a regular expression you must select the Regular expression check box. |
