Aligning multiple Files

Align multiple files when you want to generate alignment result files (*.sdlalign) from multiple pairs of source and target documents at a time. SDL Trados Studio sends the translation units that result from all the generated alignment result files to the same translation memory (TM). When the alignment is complete, you can open each resulting *.sdlalign file separately in the Alignment view.

About this task

To align a set of documents for subsequent review in the Alignment view:

Procedure

  1. On the Welcome or the Translation Memories view, click Align Documents and choose Align Multiple Files from the drop-down menu. Studio opens the Align Documents wizard.
  2. Select the TM for the Alignment Results and make sure the box Save Alignment result files for later review is ticked. By default, Studio saves each alignment result file in the Alignment Results folder under %UserProfile%/My Documents/Studio 2015. Click Browse for folder to save the *.sdlalign files to a different folder instead.
  3. Click Next to Add the Files to Align and Change the File Type Settings if you want to use custom settings for your documents.
  4. Click Finish to start the import then click Close to close the Align Documents wizard.
  5. Click Yes on the pop-up dialog box to open the folder with the results of the alignment and double-click on the *.sdlalign files that you want to open in the Alignment view.
