Defining user access to file-based translation memories
This topic describes how to password protect a file-based translation memory. This is particularly useful if you have created a translation memory to be used by someone outside your company. If you decide to password protect a translation memory, you have to define passwords for all of the available access levels; everyone who tries to open the translation memory will be asked to provide a password (including the administrator).
About this task
To assign passwords to a file-based translation memory:
Procedure
- In the navigation tree in the Translation Memories view, select the translation memory you want to edit.
- If the translation memory does not appear in the navigation tree, select from the menu bar.
- Select from the menu bar (or you can right-click the translation memory and select Settings from the shortcut menu). The Translation Memory Settings dialog box is displayed.
- Select Access Rights from the navigation tree. The Access Rights settings page is displayed on the right.
- Specify a password for each of the available access levels. Whenever you or another user accesses the translation memory, you will be asked to provide the password.
- Click OK again to save your changes and close the Translation Memory Settings dialog box. Changes are effective immediately.
