Edit a termbase entry

This topic describes how to edit termbase entries in an SDL MultiTerm (Desktop) termbase in the Editor view. This is useful if you correct a mistake or enter additional information in the termbase entry, for example, a definition.

About this task

To edit an existing termbase entry:

Procedure

  1. In the Editor view, select the term you want to edit:

    you want to edit a term from your search results in the Termbase Recognition window or Termbase Search window,

    select the term and click View term detail . The Termbase Viewer window is displayed with the term selected in the Browse pane and the termbase entry displayed in the Entry pane.

    you want to edit a term in the list of terms in the Termbase Viewer window.

    select the term that you want to edit from the Browse pane and the termbase entry is displayed in the Entry pane.

  2. Click Edit this Entry . The Entry pane changes to edit mode.
  3. Edit the termbase entry:
    IfThen

    you want to edit the contents of a field,

    click the field label or double-click inside the field. This opens the field for editing. Make the required change and click outside the field or press Enter to close the field. You can also use the Tab key to close the current field and open the next one for editing.

    you want to add a field that is not currently displayed,

    look for field labels that have a down-arrow beside them. Click each down arrow to display a list of the fields which can be added below the field. When you know where you want to add the field, click the appropriate down arrow and select the required field from the list.

    The selected field is opened for editing.

    you want to delete a field that is not currently displayed,

    click the field label or double-click inside the field to open the field for editing. Delete all content from the field and then click outside the field or press Enter to close the field. Alternatively, select the field label and press Delete.

  4. When you have finished editing the entry, click Save this Entry . The changes to the entry are saved to the termbase and displayed in the entry pane.
    • If you want to abandon editing this termbase entry, click Cancel Editing .
