Editing a Language Resource template

This topic describes how to edit a file-based language resource template in the Translation Memories view.

About this task

To edit a language resource template:

Procedure

  1. In the navigation tree in the Translation Memories view, select the language resource template you want to edit, right-click and select Settings from the shortcut menu. The Language Resource Template Settings dialog box is displayed.
    • Alternatively, select the language resource template and then select Home tab > Tasks group > Settings from the Ribbon.
  2. In the Language box, select the language to be edited.
  3. Under Resources, select a list and click Edit. A dialog box appropriate to the list type is displayed:
    • If you selected the Variable List, the Variables dialog box is displayed.

    • If you selected the Abbreviation List, the Abbreviations dialog box is displayed.

    • If you selected the Ordinal Follower List, the Ordinal Followers dialog box is displayed.

    • If you selected the Segmentation Rules, the Segmentation Rules dialog box is displayed.

  4. The dialog box contains the current language resource settings.
    • If you want to edit an existing variable, abbreviation or ordinal follower, double-click the entry and make the required change.

    • If you want to add a new variable, abbreviation or ordinal follower, scroll to the bottom of the existing list, double click the first empty row and add the new entry.

    • If you want to view, add or edit segmentation rules, select Segmentation Rules and click Edit. The Segmentation Rules dialog box is displayed. From here you can add new rules, edit the default rules and create exceptions to the rules.

  5. Click OK to close the dialog box.
  6. Repeat steps 4 - 6 for any other languages and lists that you want to edit.
  7. When you have finished editing lists for all languages, click OK to save your changes and close the Language Resource Template settings dialog box.
