How to find text
You can search for text in a document in the Editor window from the Find tab in the Find and Replace dialog box. You can also replace search text.
Procedure
- In the Editor view, select Edit > Find to open the Find and Replace dialog box on the Find tab.
- Enter the search text in the Find what box.
Note: SDL Trados Studio saves the last 10 find strings during an active session.
- Select if you want to search the entire document or a selection of text from the Look in drop-down list.
- Select Source to search the source segment text or Target to search the target segment text.
- Click Find options to select your search settings.
- Click Find Next to find your search text in the document. When matching text is found, it is highlighted in orange in the Editor window, as in the example below:
- Click Find Next to find the next instance of your search text in the document.
Note: You can also close the Find and Replace dialog box and press F4 to find the next instance of your search text or press Shift+F4 to find a previous instance of your search text. See How the Find Keyboard Shortcut Keys Work for more information.
- When Studio has finished searching your document, the following message is displayed: No more matches found. Click OK to close the message.
- Enter any new search criteria in the Find & Replace dialog box or click Close to close the Find and Replace dialog box.
Note: Click Close to cancel your search at any time and close the Find & Replace dialog box.
