How to update Studio with bilingual review files from Word

If you sent your files for bilingual review using the Export for Bilingual Review batch task, you can import the content of the bilingual review documents back into SDL Trados Studio. This import updates the target segments in the *.sdlxliff project file with any edits, tracked changes, reviewed statuses and comments.

About this task

Procedure

  1. In the Projects view, right-click on the project and select Batch Tasks > Update from Bilingual Review.

To quickly update the *.sdlxliff project file when you have the document open in the Editor view, use the commands from the File Actions group menu on the Review tab.

  2. On the Batch Tasks page of the Batch Processing wizard, click Next.
  3. On the Files page, select the project files that you want to update and click Next.
  4. On the Update from an Bilingual Review Document page, select the bilingual review documents (filename.review.docx) to use to update your project files:
    • If the bilingual review document file name has not been changed and the folder structure is the same, you can automatically match the SDL project file with its corresponding bilingual review document. This is useful if you have a more than one bilingual review document that you need to select:
      • Click Add and select Review Documents from Folder.
      • From the Files of type drop-down list, select Bilingual Review Files (*.review.docx.)
      • Browse to the External Review folder, select it and then click OK. A message is displayed indicating how many files have been added.
    • You can individually add each bilingual review document. This is useful if you only have one document to select. You may also need to do this if you changed the file names or the file structure within the External Review folder.
      • Select the target language for which you want to add the bilingual review document.
      • Select the project file under the Project File column for which you want to add the bilingual review document, click Add and then select Specific Review Document.
      • From the Files of type drop-down list, select Bilingual Review Files (*.review.docx), then select the document and click Open.
  5. Under Update Options:
    • Select the status to give the updated translations in Studio. By default, it automatically changes the status to Translation Rejected.
    • To make a backup of your *.sdlxliff project file incase you accidentally overwrite content that you want to keep, select Create a backup of the project file before updating. If you are working with a SDL Studio GroupShare project, a backup is automatically made on GroupShare.
  6. Click Finish to update your project files with the content from the reviewed documents.
  7. When the task is completed, click Close to exit the Batch Processing wizard.
Your *.sdlxliff document has now been updated.
