Identifying embedded content

SDL Trados Studio differentiates between main XML content and embedded sub-content based on the identification settings that you define for the two different processors:

To define what is main XML content:

Procedure

  1. Click File > Options > File Types to change the global Studio settings or Project Settings > File Types to change the settings for the current project only.
  2. Select your custom XML file type and open the Parser page to enter the rules for identifying XML content. For information on how to define parser rules for XML content, see XML Parser Rule Settings.
  3. Click OK to close the Options/Project Settings page and save your changes.

To define what is embedded content:

Procedure

  1. Click File > Options > Embedded Content Processors to change the global Studio settings or Project Settings > Embedded Content Processors to change the settings for the current project only.
  2. Select your embedded content processor:
    • choose Plain Text > Document structure page to specify identification settings for plain text found inside XML documents. For information on how to define parser rules for Plain Text, see Structuring Text Files.
    • choose HTML 5 / HTML 4 > Parser page to specify recognition settings for HTML content found inside XML documents. For information on how to define parser rules for Plain Text, see HTML Parser Settings.
  3. Click OK to close the Options/Project Settings page and save your changes.
