Return completed work to WorldServer in a return package

To return completed work or return a translation for further work, you can create a return package. You can only do this if you received the file initially in a project package from the project manager or from another user. You can either automatically upload the return package to SDL WorldServer from SDL Trados Studio or you can save the return package to your computer then manually import it from WorldServer.

Automatically uploading the return package to WorldServer

Procedure

  1. Select Projects view > Home tab > Create Return Package from the Ribbon. The Create Return Package wizard is displayed on the Select Files page. All files in the project are included in the list apart from reference files.

If you select files that were not originally received in a project package, the Create Return Package option will be disabled (grayed out).

  2. Select or clear the check boxes next to the file names on the Select Files page to include or exclude them from the package. If you have previously included any of the files displayed in another return package, those files will not be selected by default.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Choose Server on the Return Package Options page. If the package was created in WorldServer 10.3 or later, Studio recognizes the server where the package came from so that you can upload the return package back to its original location. For packages created in earlier versions, enter the server address in the Server field.
  5. Click Authentication to enter your credentials for the specified server address.
  6. If you want to add a comment to the return package, enter it in the Comment box.
  7. Click Finish to create the package and go to the Creating Return Package page. Studio creates the return package and uploads it to WorldServer. Once the package creation is complete, the statuses next to the progress bars change to Completed.

If errors or warnings occurred during package creation and upload, select the package and click Show Results. The Results dialog box is displayed.

After the return package is created, the manual task assigned to the files in that package is displayed as complete in the My Tasks folder on the navigation tree of the Files view.

Saving and manually uploading the return package to WorldServer

Procedure

  1. Follow steps 1-3 above.
  2. On the Return Package Options page, choose the File option. This will save the return package to your computer.
  3. Browse to the location where you want to save the return package, enter a name for the return package in the File name box and click Save.
  4. If you want to add a comment to the return package, enter it in the Comment box.
  5. Click Finish to create the package and go to the Creating Return Package page. Once the package creation is complete, the status next to the package name changes to Completed. If errors or warnings occurred during package creation, select the package and click Show Results. The Results dialog box is displayed.
  6. Send the package to the project manager.
    • By email:

      - Click Send Package by Email. A draft email addressed to the selected user is displayed with the return package file attached.

      - Click Send to send the email and return to the Create Return Package wizard.

    • By a different method such as placing the return package on FTP site:

      - Click Open Target Folder to open the folder where your return package is saved.

      - Copy and paste the return package to your chosen location and give access to it to the project manager.

  7. Click the Close button on the Create Return Package wizard to exit the wizard.
  8. The project manager imports the return package into WorldServer. If you have access to the WorldServer system on which the project was created, you can log into WorldServer and import the return package yourself. For detailed instructions on performing these steps in WorldServer, see the Importing Return Packages section of the WorldServer and Studio Integration Guide.
