Run SDL Trados Studio from the command line

You may find it useful to run SDL Trados Studio from the command line, for example to start the program with a specified project opened.

Run Studio

Assume Studio is installed in C:\Program Files(x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4:

Procedure

  1. Press Windows logo key + R.
    The Run dialog box is displayed.
  2. In the Run dialog box type: C:\Program Files(x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4\SDLTradosStudio.exe

Display the command line usage for SDLTradosStudio.exe

Assume Studio is installed in C:\Program Files(x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4:

Procedure

  1. Press Windows logo key + R. The Run dialog box is displayed.
  2. In the Run dialog box type: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4\SDLTradosStudio.exe" /help
    All the command line arguments for SDLTradosStudio.exe are displayed. Command line arguments are not case sensitive.

Run Studio to start with a specified document

Assume Studio is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4\ and the document you want to open is: C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\example.docx

To run Studio so that it starts with the document open for translation:

Procedure

  1. Press Windows logo key + R.
    The Run dialog box is displayed.
  2. In the Run dialog box type: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4\SDLTradosStudio.exe /opendocument C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\example.docx"
