SDL Language Cloud
Connect to SDL Language Cloud from within SDL Trados Studio to access machine translation (MT) engines that generate smart automatic translation results. The Language Cloud MT engines are trained using domain-specific content and can generate translation results that require less post-editing.
Language Cloud services
The Language Cloud integration with Studio gives you access to:
About this task
- Default MT Engines. For each language pair, Language Cloud has a Default MT engine (sometimes also referred to as baseline engines) that you can use for translating general content. For domain-specific translations, connect to specialized MT engines.
- Specialized Engines. These are industry-specific MT engines that are trained using content specific to a particular domain (e.g. Automotive, Travel or Electronics). Connect to engines to get translation results that better fit the context of your source text.
- Custom Dictionaries. These are
*.tbxor*.xmlfiles containing your own terminology. Dictionaries enhance your MT engines further to create smarter MT suggestions. If you subscribe to a machine translation package that includes dictionaries, you can upload custom dictionaries from your Language Cloud account in order to make them available in Studio. To create Language Cloud dictionaries from SDL MultiTerm (Desktop) termbases, export your termbase data to a TBX (LISA 2002)*.xmlfile and upload the export file to a Language Cloud dictionary. For information on how to export termbases from MultiTerm, see .
Subscription packages
Subscribe to one of the available Language Cloud packages for monthly access to MT engines. Each Language Cloud package offers access to a different number of characters that you can translate from Studio using your selected Language Cloud engines and dictionaries. For each package, you can create API keys and give access to your resources to multiple users.

About this task
Log in using an API key to access the engines and dictionaries available for a Language Cloud account. API keys are usually created by the project manager to give multiple team members simultaneous access to the same Language Cloud resources. You cannot access information about the Language Cloud account when logging in with an API key.
