Select Project File

The Select Project File dialog box informs you that the document you are opening is already part of an existing project.

SDL Trados Studio displays this dialog box if ALL the conditions below are met:

  • you open a single document for translation (using the Translate Single Document command or by drag-and-dropping the file into the Editor Navigator or into the side-by-side Editor).
  • the file you are trying to open is not currently open in the Editor.
  • a [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlxliff and a [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlproj file already exist for this document in the same location as the document you are trying to open.

Use the Select Project File dialog box to tell Studio how to handle documents which already have a project attached to it:

OptionDescription

Open existing project file

Opens the existing [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlxliff version of the document in the Editor. Studio also retrieves and any current changes to the target language version of the document.

Create new project file

Creates a new [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlxliff version of the document and opens it in the Editor. This discards any current changes to the old sdlxliff and sdlproj files and overwrites them with the new versions of the files.
