Translation Memory and Automated Translation > Filters

Use the Translation Memory and Automated Translation > Filters settings to specify what filters are applied against the translation memory. These filters are applied to translations retrieved from the translation memory when lookups are performed. This can be for all language pairs or for one language pair. You can create, edit and remove filters. There are two types of filters that you can apply to a translation memory:

  • Filter Penalties - Translations that do not match the filter conditions in your search results are penalized.
  • Hard Filter - Translations that do not match the filter conditions are excluded from the lookup results.

These settings appear in multiple dialog boxes in SDL Trados Studio.
