XML Embedded content

Use the options on the Embedded Content page of your XML file type to configure where SDL Trados Studio or later looks for embedded content in the XML file and what processor it uses to handle this embedded content.

About this task

To display the Embedded Content page:

Procedure

  1. Click File > Options > File Types if you want to make changes to the global Studio settings or Project Settings > File Types to change the active project only.
  2. Expand one of the XML file types that uses dedicated embedded content processors (XML: Microsoft .NET Resources, XML: OASIS DITA 1.2 Compliant, XML: OASIS DocBook 4.5 Compliant or any new XML Embedded Content file type) and select the Embedded content page.

Process embedded content using the following processor

Tick this checkbox to process XML embedded content with one of the embedded content processors from the drop-down menu. By default, this list contains the three predefined embedded content processors available for XML file types: Plain Text, HTML 4 and HTML 5. You can add additional embedded content processors to this list by Creating a New Embedded Content Processor.

About this task

To configure how your selected embedded content processor extracts and displays content embedded in the *.xml file:

Process embedded content found in

CDATA sections

Enable this option to set the selected embedded content processor to extract embedded content from CDATA sections. Studio identifies and processes CDATA sections automatically so you do not need to make any further extraction settings on this page.

About this task

Document Structure information

Enable this option to set the selected embedded content processors to extract embedded content from specific context. Use Add... to create extraction rules based on document structure information. Make sure that the document structure information you specify here is covered by a parser rule on the Parser page of your XML file type. Studio can only extract embedded content that is recognized by the file type parser.
