Activating Bilingual Excel file types
When selecting the appropriate file type for processing Excel files, SDL Trados Studio considers the file extension and at the order of the file types in the File Types list. Because Bilingual Excel files have the same extension as regular Excel files, (*.xlsx), SDL Trados Studio cannot automatically determine if an Excel file contains bilingual content.
About this task
Bilingual Excel files are processed with the first Excel file type processor available in the File Types tree of the Project Settings/Options dialog. By default, the Microsoft Excel 2007-2016 file type is located above the Bilingual Excel file type. This means that SDL Trados Studio processes all Excel files with the generic Excel file type. Therefore, when you are working with bilingual Excel files, make sure that you manually prioritize the Bilingual Excel file type over the generic Microsoft Excel 2007-2016 file type.
Procedure
- Decide for which type of project you want to prioritize the Bilingual Excel file type.
- For the current project, go to the Projects view, and then go to .
- For all future projects, go to .
- For project templates, go to .
- Prioritize the Bilingual Excel file type by either:
- Moving the Bilingual Excel file type above the Microsoft Excel 2007-2013 file type. Select the Bilingual Excel file type, and then use the Move Up/Move Down buttons to position the Bilingual Excel file type above the Microsoft Excel 2007-2013 file type.
- Disabling the generic Microsoft Excel 2007-2016 file type. Clear the Microsoft Excel 2007-2016 checkbox.
