Adding TQA categories

Categories and subcategories are assessment options that reviewers can use to classify any translation-related issue that they find in a file. By adding TQA categories, you customize your TQA configuration.

About this task

For example, you can add an Accuracy category and define Mistranslation and Omission subcategories for it in this list. When reviewers open the project document, they can label translation mistakes as Accuracy - Mistranslation issues.

Procedure

  1. Decide where you want to add TQA categories:
    • For the active project only, go to the Home tab, and select Project Settings.
    • For all future projects, go to File > Options.
  2. Expand the Translation Quality Assessment tree and select Categories.
  3. On the Categories page, select Click to add a new category or Click to add a new subcategory.
  4. In the Add Translation Quality Assessment Category dialog, type in the category's name and abbreviation.
  5. Decide whether you want to turn a category into a subcategory.
    • To turn a category into a subcategory, in the Subcategory of list, select a category as parent.
    • To keep a category as is, in the Subcategory of list, select None.
  6. Add a description for you category or subcategory.
This description will be displayed to the reviewer during the translation assessment. It can be 1024 characters long.
  7. If you want reviewers to add a comment when they select a category, select Require the reviewer to add a comment for the category and add a hint to help the reviewer with the comment.
The hint will be displayed under the Comment text area when the reviewer adds a TQA item. It can be 256 characters long.
  8. To set up another category or subcategory right after this one, select Add another.
  9. Select Save.

What to do next

After you defined your categories, you will need to set up severities.
