Batch tasks and task sequences

A task is a process that is performed on an individual file or on a group of files (for example, an entire project).

There are two types of task in SDL Trados Studio:

  • Batch tasks - Batch tasks are performed by the system. For example, the Word Count task performs a word count for selected files and the word count results can be seen in the SDL Trados Studio views and reports. Batch tasks can be put into a task sequence. All tasks in the sequence are performed (in the order in which they appear in the sequence) on all selected files.
  • Manual Tasks - Manual tasks are performed by people. For example, translation is a manual task. Manual tasks are assigned to users when they are sent a project package. The task tells the user what they are expected to do with the files in the package.

When several batch tasks are run in a particular order, they form a batch task sequence. Batch task sequences apply to individual files or entire projects.
