Configuring Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2013 file types

You can configure Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2013 settings, so that you customize the way this file type is processed during translation or review.

Procedure

  1. Decide for which projects you want to configure file type settings:
    • For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
    • For all future projects, go to File > Options.
  2. Expand the File Types list, and select the Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2013 filter.
  3. Select the Notes and shapes page, and specify hyperlink and content extraction behavior.
    1. Choose an option from the Hyperlinks list:
      • Always process hyperlinks - All parts of the hyperlink element are available for translation, including the hyperlink itself.
      • Extract only hyperlink text - Only the visible hyperlink text is available for translation. The hyperlink is copied to the target segment, but cannot be edited.
      • Never process hyperlinks - The hyperlink text is presented for translation, but the hyperlink is not copied to the target segment.
    2. Choose an option from the Notes list, to specify the location of notes in the target file.
    3. Choose an option from the Shapes list, to specify the location of shapes in the target file.
  4. Select the Common page, and specify which content is included in or excluded from translation.
    1. Under Select the optional content to include for translation:, select all the checkboxes corresponding to the text you want to make translatable: Comments, Alternative text for graphics (the ALT attribute), Document properties and Hidden content (shapes and slides)
    2. Under Select the optional content to skip::
      • Select the Advanced font formatting (tracking, kerning) checkbox, to ignore spacing and kerning from translation.
      • Select the Complex script and Asian text font checkbox, to ignore the formatting information for Asian text font. The <cf> ('control formatting') tag is not inserted in the output text. This option has an effect only on Microsoft Windows computers which have Asian language support installed.
  5. Select the QuickInsert page.
  6. Specify QuickInsert settings to insert tags and formatting, or to insert text and special characters.
  7. Select Font mapping.
  8. Specify the font mapping settings for your source and target languages.
  9. Select OK.
