Configuring SDL XLIFF file types

Configure SDL XLIFF file type settings, so that you customize the way documents compliant with the OASIS XLIFF 1.2. standard using SDL specializations are processed during translation or review.

Procedure

  1. Decide for which projects you want to configure file type settings:
    • For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
    • For all future projects, go to File > Options.
  2. Expand the File Types list, and select SDL XLIFF.
  3. Select the General page and:
    • Under Validation, select Validate SDL XLIFF documents before reading to make SDL Trados Studio validate the *.sdlxliff document when it opens the file. If this is selected and the document fails the validation, the document is not opened.
    • Under Embedding, use the Maximum embedded file size (MB) slider to specify the maximum size of files embedded in *.sdlxliff files. If a file larger than this size is added to a project or opened in the editor, then when the *.sdlxliff file is saved, only a link to the embedded file is stored in the *.sdlxliff file.
  4. Select OK.
