Editing Google Cloud Translation connection settings

Use the Edit Connection to Google Translate wizard to edit Google Cloud Translation connection settings. Google Cloud Translation is a paid-for service which uses an API key. If no API key is listed for your Google Cloud Translation connection, this wizard will automatically display and prompt you for the API key. The API key is stored on your computer and not in the project settings. Therefore, if you open a package or move a project to another computer, you will need to enter this key again. You may also want to edit these settings so that you can use a different Google Cloud Translation account which has a different API key.

About this task

The unpaid Google Cloud Translation service is now obsolete. If you have a project that has been using the unpaid service, you may be asked to enter an API key to enable the new, paid service. If you do not enter an API key, the provider will be disabled.

Procedure

  1. Decide whether you want to edit the Google Cloud Translation connection:
    • For all future projects - Go to File > Options > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs/ [source language - target language] pair.
    • For the current project - Go to the Projects view, select a project. On the Home tab, select Project Settings, and then in the Project Settings dialog, select Language Pairs > All Language Pairs / [source language - target language] pair.
The Language Pairs settings are displayed on the right. Any language pairs for which default translation memory selections have been added, are displayed in the Language Pairs box.
  2. Go to All Language Pairs / [source language - target language] > Translation Memory and Automated Translation.
  3. Select the Google Cloud Translation connection (provider) from the list, and then select Settings.
  4. In the Edit Connection to Google Translate dialog, enter your API Key and select OK to save your settings.
  5. Select OK.
