Editing translation units

You can edit the translation units (TUs) of your translation memory (TM) if they need adjustment.

About this task

Edit a translation unit

Procedure

  1. In the Translation Memories view, make the translation memory for which you want to edit a translation unit the active translation memory.
  2. In the TM side-by-side editor window click inside the source or target segment and start typing. The edit translation unit icon appears in the Translation Unit Status column to indicate that the translation unit has been edited. To make the change permanent, you have to commit the change. You can do this immediately or wait until there are a number of changes to be committed.
  3. Continue editing segments. Use the navigation buttons on the Home tab to move through the translation memory pages.
  4. When you have finished making changes, commit the changes by clicking Home tab > Save group > Commit Changes on the Ribbon.

Remove the Edited status

About this task

When you remove the Edited status from a translation unit, you abandon the changes you already made.

Procedure

  1. Select the edited TU (or segment).
  2. Select Home tab > Save group > Discard TU Changes from the Ribbon.
